Olga Joan is a screen printer, artist and maker hailing from Kingston, New York in the Mid Hudson Valley, where she has a self-named atelier and shop. Born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland by Catalan parents, she has lived in the United States now for over 30 years. She graduated from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco and worked in the fashion industry for more than 20 years leaving the industry 11 years ago.
Olga traded a corporate career for a slower paced mindset building her name-sake brand of handcrafted home goods and art with a focus on screen printed textiles. With a modern home in mind, she designs for practicality, functionality, and style for everyday living.
Drawing inspiration from art, design and architecture, she has developed a style that embraces simple lines, and bold geometric forms to deliver a unique modern aesthetic.
Olga has developed a unique and modern quilting aesthetic. She started to create one-of-a-kind quilts to use up printed linen fabric remnants she couldn’t use for her home goods collection. This concept quickly moved into cushions and framed wall art.
Starting with a colour story in mind, the fabric remnants she has to work with informs the print combinations and the end result. Her one-of-a-kind quilts, cushions and wall art are beautifully eclectic pairing a variety of prints and solid fabrics.
