Sock Monkeys have been around since the late 1800's.  During the Depression Sock Monkeys were at height of their popularity.  In 1920, a Sock Monkey was constructed out of a pair of Rockford Red Heel Socks and sent to the company, Nelson Knitting Mills.  The company thought it was a genius idea and Nelson started including Sock Monkey instructions with every pair of Rockford Red Heel Socks they sold.  Socky by Whistler Studios is a lighthearted collection that pays tribute to that original sock monkey design.
