With the rich heritage of
Fredericksburg, VA, it seems only natural that we should
introduce a collection authentic in the colors and
prints that are reflective of this historical city
during the late 19th century.
With a major economic depression in the 1890s, many
textile mills were forced to actually cease production
and close their doors, while others struggled to survive
by using cheap greige goods and simplifying their
designs to monochromatic colorations. This also meant a
cut in artists' wages, the costly preparation of
rollers, and the expensive dyes involved. Nancy Gere’s
Fredricksburg collection is reflective of this volatile
period in our history. The uncomplicated patterns offer
an understated elegance to today's quilt designs in a
palette of colors that are never out of style.
